HELLO GUYS! Practise today as usual! Oh yeah, today, Wen Qiao got a new name! The new name is 龚角玮. Read it in hokkien and you'll understand. Ha Ha.
We were joined by a new member today! He is Jun Jie's friend from Fu Hua - his name is Ming Wei! Welcome to YTCO!
Today, we practised for the 3/8/07 performance! After that we practised the songs for next year's concert and a few random songs.
After the practise, we celebrated the June, July and August born members' birthdays! I'm sure you'll agree with me the chocolate cake's nice right? Even looking at the picture now makes me feel hungry... Ahh! Even though I had rice just now...
Then, our percussion ensemble practised their chosen piece for the percussion ensemble competition (I think so?). It was REALLY NICE! Ha Ha. Too bad I don't have a video of Yik Fung rotating his body while drumming. Or all of you will go 'cool man'. Ha Ha.

`Ellooooo! Yesterday (Saturday), we went to De La Salle Primary to perform for their Cultural Night! We played ALOT of songs(mostly 随机应变 one. haha.) like 龙的传人,Doreamon, 风筝乐,上海滩,高山青 etc.
Things went quite well yesterday, if not because of the rain!!!! It was raining yesterday, and we still performed outdoors in their parade square (is it called parade square?). So, unfortunately, all of us and our instruments were wet!! Let's hope the instruments don't spoil that easily!
So, after their guest of honour set the balloons free(I want the purple one!! Let's go to space and search for it! Should be orbiting round the earth by now. Or maybe it just burst halfway up. My science is not good, but I think it will burst? Well nvm! It will come back most probably black, because by the time, it will be burnt already. ), we played 龙的传人! After we played all the songs, our 2 MCs (whom didn't wear the attire :X, so they become MC! hahaha!) explained about the chinese orchestra instruments! But halfway through, two very enthusiastic MCs from De La Salle School's parent support group took over the mike and hosted instead. When they talked about a particular instrument, example the cello, someone from the cello section will play a short piece from a random song.
The funny part was when the MCs talked about double bass. Mr Wong told JinLong to play "stand by me", and HE CAN'T EVEN PLAY IT RIGHT! HAHAHA! Ok nvm, probable because of nerves, but STAND BY ME! C'mon, everyone's playing it :D
Right, so after we got down the stage and prepared to go back to YT, IT RAINED. Luckily, we had Jinjing's very kind daddy to help transport big instruments like timpani and yang qins back to YT. The rest of the people had to wait for the rain to stop to walk back xD
After everyone's back, we practised Bangawan Solo for the concert next year! This time round, we were joined by Yuan Xiang's daddy! He played the Er Hu with us yesterday for practise! haha, welcome, uncle! Hope you like Yew tee. (and can stand the horniness and crappiness of our members).
That's all for yesterday, I'll update about the national day performance some other times, so check back!
Good bye, see you guys~

'Ello everyone! I'm back with a video with photos from yesterday! As you know, there was a recital yesterday! Hmm, more like a solo recital? Haha, for pressuring Jinjing. But 古月琴声 is finally over! So.. JinJing, how do you feel now? Hahaa. Don't laugh okay, it could be you next, muahahaha
So anyway, some of us went early to help out with the booklets, like printing and stapling. After that, Hui Chi jie took out some dresses she brought and the MCs tried on them (They had to wear the dresses at night =D). Anyway, Leonard, please don't cry, I know you wanna try them, but too bad, the dresses will most probably tear if you wear them =D
Alright, so the platform and instruments were taken down, and at 3pm, we had our 大组 practise in the hall, because it'll be so much easier to rehearse for the recital since everything is prepared.
We used a very tensed 30 minutes to practise for the coming performance at De La Salle Primary School. 龙的传人,风筝乐,城里的月光 and 早安老师! After the practise, we moved on to rehearse for the 古月琴声.
-rehearse-
-dinner (chicken rice [again])-
And the actual PERFORMANCE!
Haha, all the performers and MCs were trembling from head to toe, especially JinJing and Enyu. I don't know why EnYu was so scared, but she kept going around and say "OMG, 来了,怎么办,我很stressed leh."
haha, anyway, the performance, went smoothly(well, I always say that. But what else can I say? ), except for the 兰花花 and 月牙!Wah Jing, why did you stop halfway through 月牙???? So scary leh! Mr Wong gave the "down" hand sign already, and you just sat there and stared. Ok nvm, haha!
Anyway, congratulations everyone! 142 people came and watch the recital. How hot can this get? man, haha! And so, on behalf of JinJing(she'd like to say): thank you everyone especially miss peggie, mr wong, daddy(as in Mr Ng [jinjing's dad].), Mr Ng(Yuan Xiang's dad) and neh neh siar! Neh Neh's O level coming le, and he still 伸出"圆手" and practise 兰花花with jinjing.
Oh yeah, and another good news, 陈东晓老师(the pro erhu player) gave everyone in YTCO a 80/100 for our performance! yay!
5 for yew tee!
We love yew tee!
yew tee yew tee you so cool!
yew tee yew tee 我爱你!
Ok, so that's all for yesterday, so cool! Looking forward to the 琴系吹打recital on 25 October! From Mr Wong's tone, looks like Ms Peggie will hold it at the same place as today (guessing)! Target: >150 people ar, yay!
HeeHee
See You!

I'm sorry, there's something wrong with the videos, so I cannot post it here. Here are the direct links to the videos, sorry for the inconvenience!
YO GUYS! Today, we went for the Yew Tee Resident's Day performance! Good thing none of us were VERY late! hur hur. Anyway, after we settled down and tuned and stuff, we played some "warm up" songs like Doreamon, 上海滩, the front part of 龙的传人 and so on and forth! After the audiences finished their morning workouts (some lame people in ytco tried doing while sitting down too. And it looked silly! =D), our performance started!! We played 快马加鞭,龙的传人,明天会更好 and 大姑娘美! After the performance, we took photos with the Mr Yeo and Mr Ang. Then, we went back to YTCO room to put down our bags and stuffs, and headed off to the hard court to support Mr Wong in judging for the Yew Tee Idol! After the Yew Tee Idol finished, Mr Wong led the team into dancing and singing(YTCO idol!)! Oh yah, and speaking of YTCO idol - the Miss YTCO of YTCCCO is MIIN WEI!! Mini~ =D Anyway, after all the singing and dancing, some of us with a kid in ourselves went to play with the "inflatable bouncing stuff"! Like.. erm..... You strap on this kind of full body belt and you RUN all the way as far as you can go and throw a ball into a hoop. I know this sounds weird when I say it, but after watching the video (or seen it personally) you'll understand. Well anyway! If you wanna know what happened during the "game", you gotta watch the videos(haha nice one)! Oh yah, and when you come to the part with SDHH trying to run with the elastic, you gotta see her expression! Like praying to the heavens: please lemme score! After that, we watched some magic shows, Escape shows and the Presto talking to himself de show! JinJing successfully volunteered herself to go up on stage to help the magician do his shrinking glove magic! And she won a notebook (not the PC!) and a card holder. After that, some of us went to Mac and some formed a circle and told each other ghost stories and crappy craps. Oh yah, when you come to the last photo of the first video, look at Yik Fung's back! "A16" Yew Tee Idol! After all those talking and playing and crapping and stuff, we went to have our lunch at YT MRT level 2 foodcourt. The good news is that we were all very good citizens and didn't raid the foodcourt this time. The bad news is due to the fact that there were too many people in the food court, and we can't raid it, some of us sacrificed and bought packet lunches back to YTCC to eat! T.T
We played carom, basketball and card games after lunch! Then, after we got "bored"(or maybe not so) of the games, we moved on to MURDERER! Winky! Right, this I will not elaborate, because I'm not very sure of the contents. But what I'm sure of is that everyone loved the game, and no one wanted to go home until 7pm!
I've come to the end of today's post! You guys were great! Oh yeah - announcements!!!!!
-古月琴声2008 I hope I don't hear anyone saying they don't know of this recital yet! IT'S ALL OVER THE PLACE! On the television between the lifts in YTCC, in both the YTCC lifts and even in Yew Tee hub! Oh yeah, and you can find some posters lying around in the YTCO room too! Oh yeah, and they missed out the toilets. I think they can put posters behind the cubicle doors? So when people do their business they can actually see the posters too instead of wasting time staring at the cubicle door or something - anything else. (just a personal suggestion! hur hur..) ANYWAY! For some really blur ones: The concert is this coming Saturday, 12/07/08 Time: 7.30pm Venue: YTCC hall (wow, the JinJing is very stressed!) Tickets: FREE ADMISSION for Passion card members; $2 for non-passion card members (go get a passion card ar, for those who haven't got one!) PLEASE TRY AND PERSUADE YOUR FRIENDS TO COME TOO! :D
Well.. I guess that's all for today's post! Well, or may I say yesterday! Please tag at the YTCO forum! I've linked it - It's under the links, and its name is "YTCO Forum". Shouldn't be too hard to spot: I've bold it. Good bye and see you!

Welcome to Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra's blogger.
Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra was set up in April 2003, with the support and sponsorship of, then Minister of Transport, Member of Parliament Mr Yeo Cheow Tong. The pioneer group of 25 youth musicians soon grew to become a promising youth Orchestra of 60 young music talents.
Under the baton of Mr Endrey Wong, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra gets together for weekly practices on Saturdays. In the past six years, the group has been a familiar sight at numerous community events. Its annual Community Concerts were always looked forward to and enjoyed by many Yew Tee residents. Bi-annual ticketed public concerts had also sold well.
In December 2005, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra launched its quarterly Recital Series, with the dual aim of training and preparing its soloists for bigger concerts, and bringing Chinese Orchestra music in smaller but more regular doses to the community. This Recital Series is still going strong.
The success of the Recital Series prompted the Orchestra to launch its Saturday Afternoon Delights on 3 January 2009. This regular 15-minutes solo or small ensemble performances at the Atrium of the Yew Tee Community Club, before the Orchestra’s weekly practices, have brought much joy to residents attending activities or courses at the CC.
Initiated by members themselves, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra had also started its own Community Involvement Programme in 2005, with performances and interactions at Homes for the Elderly and Senior Activities Centres, including a very meaningful session at the Dover Park Hospice during the Mid-Auntumn Festival in 2008. Invitations for guest-performances such as the Gek Poh Ville 10th Anniversary Concert 17 February 2008, and local music exchange programmes such as the Soka Chinese Music Exchange Concert 2006, had given members of the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra local exposure beyond Yew Tee.
In June 2008, the Orchestra held music exchanges with schools in Taiping, Perak and Georgetown, Penang. This learning journey to Malaysia benefited our members in many ways.
Although young and inexperienced, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra had participated in the bi-annual National Chinese Music Competition organised by the National Arts Council, in 2004, 2006 and 2008. Although the group did not win at these competitions, comments from the judges were encouraging.
The Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra had a very active and fulfilling first five years. It has succeeded in bringing traditional Chinese music to the neighbourhood, and helped bring more vibrancy to the community. Amongst the members, sense of commitments and bonds are strong, and morale is high. The challenge now is to nurture members’ commitments and morale, and continually develop and grow this group of young and promising music talents
