Hello guys! Sorry, didn't post yesterday because I was very busy with work. But I am back today with memories from Day 3&4 from YTCCCO Music Camp 2008!!! Get ready guys.....

DAY THREE (31st AUGUST 2008)

Highlight for that day: BARBECUE PARTY!!!

-JUMP-

When the parents arrived in the evening, THE PARTY STARTED! Our very "handsome" Mr Tan Jun Wei was our MC for that night, and the whole program started off with us playing 小刀会 for the parents!
Then, those people who kena-ed forfeit on the second day "played back" some scenes from our previous days during camp in a News reporting form, showing the parents how Mr Lao Wen and stick man were late and the bus uncle had to wait, how our male members danced around in the boys bunk before the concert in day 2 and the process of our WATER BOMB game! It was real fun! Our other members cheered and yelled comments at every move the actors made!
After that, our chairman Miss Peggie Chua BBM gave a welcome speech, and then THE BBQ BEGAN!

Relax, because there were no chicken cutlets okay? Ha Ha. Jun Jie did his homework, and we had GREAT FOOD like ABALONE mushrooms, Chicken chops, Squids, MARSHMALLOWS, Prawns etc. etc. etc!
Miss Peggie also ordered buffet, so we ate till our stomachs had no rooms for more food!
During the dinner, we played with sparklers and hung lanterns on trees!

After the BBQ, we set out some times for parents to mingle with our CO members! The BBQ committee organized some games like memory game (remember everything that's written on a piece of paper and them write them all down in a limited period of time)and the Train game.
After the games, we all formed a circle, and the high guys from ytco danced and high-ed in that circle. During the dance, Jun Wei did a lousy pole dance. So, our chairman DEMONSTRATED how to do a correct POLE DANCE! OMG! It was so good! So, Jun Wei had no choice but to do it better. Ha Ha. Go Ms Peggie!

Anyway, before the bus came, we had a short "CO songs karoke session" (parents get to choose whatever songs they want us to play).

Yeah, that's about it for the BBQ!!!!!!!

Oh yah! Another breaking news!
After the party, the night was still very young, so not many people went to bed yet. Our shyest member in the orchestra (who just sits there and laugh along during practice, but talks only when he wants the rosin or the tuner) suddenly became VERY sociable! Ok, not in the form of talking, but he actually sat among a group of GIRLS at the picnic benches near the BBQ pit after the party until 2am!!!!!! Wow!
I shall not let out any names to protect the identity of Flirt Prince.

KEEP IT UP, ZHI KAI!

**

DAY FOUR (1st SEPTEMBER 2008)
This day is even shorter than the first day! Woke up early in the morning (no dropping-down from-bunk-bed casualties anymore, don't worry) to pack up and prepare for check out!!

That was the day where many members get an idea of what post camp depression tastes like. How sad! But anyway, don't miss each other too much because we still have daily Saturday practices and performances!

**

That's all for the YTCCCO Music Camp 2008!

gonna post more about the camp another day, so check back every now and then for upcoming photos and videos!

till we meet again~

Hello guys! I believe you guys miss Music Camp as much as I do right? But don't miss it TOO MUCH till you've camp depression, or else YTCO will be known as The Depressed CO. Wow, The Depressed CO. Imagine that.

Anyway, armed with a PC and fond memories of the camp, the blogmaster is back to summarise the whole camp for you guys! Get ready, cause I'm gonna disclose stuffs disclosed within these four days three nights!

Day ONE (29th August 2008)

Basically, this day is pretty short(everyday is really short if you have fun, actually) because we(minus logistics and non-schooling members. Logistics played truant!!! Ha Ha.) assembled at YTCC at 2pm due to schools' Teachers Day Celebrations. Those who were early played ball games(Suddenly Volley Ball's so hot! We brought two there!) and chatted till the bus finally came! However, our Mr Lao Wen and Stick man were late! And that's not what we were angry about. They even brought KFC along with them!!! And didn't ask us if we want a not. Ahh!

Leonard and Jun Wei entertained us by talking loads of crap. But no one's listening! So, they ended up playing songs for us from their mobile phones instead(put a mic at the speaker).

After 45minutes of bus ride, we reached the Pasir Ris Holiday Campsite! Zi Xiang briefed us about the camp rules and stuff, and then we all went to our own-gender-dormitories to choose beds and unpack our stuff! It was free and easy for a while, and most of us played Volley Ball(I said it was hot!).

The food arrived early at about 5.15pm, and we all settled down from our ball games to enjoy our Fried Rice.
Oh, there was an incident then involving the food! When the food arrived, the caterer DID gave us the food, but he didn't give us the cutlery! So, we had to use our hands to eat. Lucky JinJing(a dangerous F&B in-charge.) contacted the caterer in-time, and he came back from wherever he was to give us the spoons. Ha Ha.

At night, we had a YTCO Dancing Contest! YTCO's very own "so you think you can dance"! Check out the video on "舞蹈篇" for more!

Partayed all night! At 12mn, most of us were asleep le! Some of us stayed up late to MUG(because O levels and A levels are coming!), and others stayed up to chat and play!

Day TWO (30th August 2008)

Crawled out of bed early in the morning to do our morning businesses(One idiot from the Girl's Dormitory just dropped down from the top of the bunk bed! So convenient! Maybe next time everyone should try it!)!

After rising and shining, we went for a morning walk/jog/run around the Pasir Ris Park!

When we got back to the campsite (full of sweat and energy), we had breakfast prepared by the F&B committee(don't worry, this time we only bought 2 tins of Milo for the camp. No diabetes, relax)! After filling our stomachs with breads and eggs and kaya and margarine, We played some games!

Lunch AND cutlery arrived early this time too, and we had lunch at 11.30am! After lunch, we prepared for the River Valley High CO's concert, 知音IV!
Because the bus uncle was late, our male members entertained themselves by PARTY-ING in the Male Dormitory. Wow! Jun Jie high again man! Oh yah, this year's Music Camp right, JunJie was VERY VERY high!!!!!! If there's a "Highest member prize", Jun Jie will surely get it!

When the bus finally arrived, we left for Singapore Conference Hall for the matinee show! When the concert started, and all the performers went on stage, Tie Ning went all RED because someone shouted "铁蛋"! Ha Ha.

Overall, the performance was GREAT! Especially one of the songs! The "Ode to Poetry". It was really nice(hand survey in bus)!

If you want to know what happened at night, catch the 战争篇 coming soon!

***

I will post Day 3 and 4 tomorrow, so STAY TUNED!
The videos will be posted later.

See you soon!

Welcome to Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra's blogger. Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra was set up in April 2003, with the support and sponsorship of, then Minister of Transport, Member of Parliament Mr Yeo Cheow Tong. The pioneer group of 25 youth musicians soon grew to become a promising youth Orchestra of 60 young music talents. Under the baton of Mr Endrey Wong, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra gets together for weekly practices on Saturdays. In the past six years, the group has been a familiar sight at numerous community events. Its annual Community Concerts were always looked forward to and enjoyed by many Yew Tee residents. Bi-annual ticketed public concerts had also sold well. In December 2005, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra launched its quarterly Recital Series, with the dual aim of training and preparing its soloists for bigger concerts, and bringing Chinese Orchestra music in smaller but more regular doses to the community. This Recital Series is still going strong. The success of the Recital Series prompted the Orchestra to launch its Saturday Afternoon Delights on 3 January 2009. This regular 15-minutes solo or small ensemble performances at the Atrium of the Yew Tee Community Club, before the Orchestra’s weekly practices, have brought much joy to residents attending activities or courses at the CC. Initiated by members themselves, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra had also started its own Community Involvement Programme in 2005, with performances and interactions at Homes for the Elderly and Senior Activities Centres, including a very meaningful session at the Dover Park Hospice during the Mid-Auntumn Festival in 2008. Invitations for guest-performances such as the Gek Poh Ville 10th Anniversary Concert 17 February 2008, and local music exchange programmes such as the Soka Chinese Music Exchange Concert 2006, had given members of the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra local exposure beyond Yew Tee. In June 2008, the Orchestra held music exchanges with schools in Taiping, Perak and Georgetown, Penang. This learning journey to Malaysia benefited our members in many ways. Although young and inexperienced, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra had participated in the bi-annual National Chinese Music Competition organised by the National Arts Council, in 2004, 2006 and 2008. Although the group did not win at these competitions, comments from the judges were encouraging. The Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra had a very active and fulfilling first five years. It has succeeded in bringing traditional Chinese music to the neighbourhood, and helped bring more vibrancy to the community. Amongst the members, sense of commitments and bonds are strong, and morale is high. The challenge now is to nurture members’ commitments and morale, and continually develop and grow this group of young and promising music talents .
