yo guys!
Above is the video on 30 Nov 2008 "Goh Chok Tong Prime Minister's cup" @ Raffles Country club performance!
Most pictues are taken during break time! During that period of time, we played charades, some acted as ah beng (._.) and some elmo-ed. All of us ate chicken fried rice dinner! It was really really nice! The fried chicken was VERY CRISPY, and the fried rice makes you wanna fly. Oh - breaking news: All of us were given 2 Chicken wings per person. However, someone ate EIGHT CHICKEN WINGS! wow!
After dinner, it was the performance! Our performance was well received. Well done, everyone!!

YO GUYS!
A pity I can't show you the pictures on the games day, because I don't have them! But I can describe the games to you! =D
TODAY WAS YTCO's second GAMES DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Attendance was great today! 30+ people turned up. whoo hoo!
No instruments today! Totally no sound from any instruments today! wow! just games ALL THE WAY from 3-6pm, sharp! We started off with "Slam the textbook" game.
Rules:
form a big circle with chairs. everyone has to have a chair except the person holding the book (A)
(A) has to grab a person (B) from the circle and hold his/her hand. A random player will take out (B)'s chair.
(B) has to grab another person from the circle and the chain continues (but only ONE chair'll be taken out).
When (A) slams the book on the floor, the chain of people IN the circle will have to rush to find a seat. Thus, 2 people will remain in the circle.
The 2 people will remain in the circle till they find a seat!
Game ends when time is up! =D

Next was "Scissors, paper, stone"! Not the lame game you're thinking of now, but.... oh wells! Just read on.
We made a straight line with chairs across the room. Then, we were all split into 4 teams.
Teams 1 & 3 will "battle" first, while teams 2&4 will be the audiences and help hold the chairs in place.
player from team 1 = (A)
player from team 2 = (B)
(A) takes his place on the chair at the left side of the line (team 1's seat), (B) takes his place on the chair at the right side of the line (team 2's seat).
Both will "sit" their way to the other team's direction till they touch each other. This is the time "scissors paper stone" comes into the game.
The person who wins (supposedly [A]) will move on as far as he can go towards team 2's seat, but (B) has to get out of the line, and another player will take his place and "sit on". The player that reaches the chair nearest to the opponent wins his group a point.

I can't remember the next game's title. Anyway, the rules are real simple. read on:
everybody was split into four teams different from the scissors paper stone's. team names: Lemon, Apple, Orange, Pear.
each groups will send a representative up to PEEL LEMONS (first part of game)!!!
The fastest peeler wins. Jun Jie, Yuan Xiang, Zi Xiang and Mr Bean went up! Either Mr Bean or Zi Xiang won, I couldn't hear that well - TOO MUCH SCREAMING! whoo hoo!
Second part of game was more fun! THE PEOPLE WHO PEELED THE LEMONS HAD TO EAT THEM!! HAHA! And the person who is the most expressionless by the end of the game wins!
All the representatives won, alright! but they still had sour tongues by the end of the games day. Ha ha!

Next game is something like charades. Also similar to a facebook game, "sketch".

players stay in their "fruits" teams. each teams send a different representative for all the rounds to draw on the whiteboard words, phrases or names given by the gamemasters. The person cannot write words or communicate with "audiences".
The person draws out the words, phrases or names, and his team members have to guess the meaning of his drawing. All within 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, the person can still can still add on to his drawing, but the guess is now open to ALL the other teams.
Some words/ phrases/ names given by gamemasters. I can't remember all the people who drew, so I'll just write "the player":
"Mr Wong" (The player drew a "snowman" with a conductor's baton. HAHA.)
"洪湖水组曲"(I remember this one! The player just drew two curved lines, and Jing shouted out the answer. Ha Ha.)
"Yew Tee" (The player just drew a dot and and Fang Yin shouted out the answer. TYCO! HAHA!)
"上海滩" (The player drew an arrow pointing up and a beach)
"Michael Jackson" (The person drew a random guy with a mic, and no one knew what the person was drawing, till someone shouted out the answer randomly)
"fei yu qing" (the person drew a random guy looking upwards, and the group guessed it. WOW?)
"Nokia" (the person drew a handphone only. Cause no one's allowed to write words, so when the guess was opened to all the groups, a person from apple guessed the answer. How tyco!)
"Wei Ni" (the person drew a girl with a half complete double bass. HAHA!)
"SYF" (the person drew a concert hall and nothing else. Another random and tyco guess from an audience. sigh)
"明月几时有,把酒问青天" (angela guessed it! I can't remember what the person drew. too complicated. HAHA)

There are more games after this, but I was gone by then so..... Too bad! Gotta listen to gossips to get more scoops. HAHA!
The post shall end here. GAMES DAY AGAIN NEXT WEEK! YAY! And we're going to somewhere else.. most probably? Oh wells. GO, GAMES/WELFARE COMMITTEE! And get more cadbury boost next time. HAHA!

As Mr Wong said: 没有人欠你们几百万,所以全部人一定要用愉快的心情来演奏曲子! So, we all used 愉快的心情来演奏曲子... But not for long! After half the song, some of you began to look as if 有人欠你们几百万! Please take note that this video is not to humiliate you. It's to correct your mistakes by letting you look at your own facial expressions. Thus everyone must SMILE MORE so the judges will be "mesmerized" by our smiles and then give us more marks! Yippee!

Welcome to Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra's blogger. Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra was set up in April 2003, with the support and sponsorship of, then Minister of Transport, Member of Parliament Mr Yeo Cheow Tong. The pioneer group of 25 youth musicians soon grew to become a promising youth Orchestra of 60 young music talents. Under the baton of Mr Endrey Wong, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra gets together for weekly practices on Saturdays. In the past six years, the group has been a familiar sight at numerous community events. Its annual Community Concerts were always looked forward to and enjoyed by many Yew Tee residents. Bi-annual ticketed public concerts had also sold well. In December 2005, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra launched its quarterly Recital Series, with the dual aim of training and preparing its soloists for bigger concerts, and bringing Chinese Orchestra music in smaller but more regular doses to the community. This Recital Series is still going strong. The success of the Recital Series prompted the Orchestra to launch its Saturday Afternoon Delights on 3 January 2009. This regular 15-minutes solo or small ensemble performances at the Atrium of the Yew Tee Community Club, before the Orchestra’s weekly practices, have brought much joy to residents attending activities or courses at the CC. Initiated by members themselves, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra had also started its own Community Involvement Programme in 2005, with performances and interactions at Homes for the Elderly and Senior Activities Centres, including a very meaningful session at the Dover Park Hospice during the Mid-Auntumn Festival in 2008. Invitations for guest-performances such as the Gek Poh Ville 10th Anniversary Concert 17 February 2008, and local music exchange programmes such as the Soka Chinese Music Exchange Concert 2006, had given members of the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra local exposure beyond Yew Tee. In June 2008, the Orchestra held music exchanges with schools in Taiping, Perak and Georgetown, Penang. This learning journey to Malaysia benefited our members in many ways. Although young and inexperienced, the Yew Tee CC Chinese Orchestra had participated in the bi-annual National Chinese Music Competition organised by the National Arts Council, in 2004, 2006 and 2008. Although the group did not win at these competitions, comments from the judges were encouraging. The Yew Tee Community Club Chinese Orchestra had a very active and fulfilling first five years. It has succeeded in bringing traditional Chinese music to the neighbourhood, and helped bring more vibrancy to the community. Amongst the members, sense of commitments and bonds are strong, and morale is high. The challenge now is to nurture members’ commitments and morale, and continually develop and grow this group of young and promising music talents .
